Graniteville houses
Late-1800s houses in the old quarry and mill village sit close to the street. Old paint there calls for lead-safe prep and patient scraping.
Westford is about ten miles north of Stow, and Ed paints homes in all of its villages.
Westford grew from granite quarries, apples and worsted yarn, and its villages still show it: Westford Center, Graniteville, Forge Village, Nabnasset and Parker Village. Many of Graniteville's houses date from the late 1800s, after the railroad came through. Nabnasset Pond, Forge Pond and Keyes Pond are among the town's ponds, and I-495 and Route 110 carry traffic right through the middle of town.
Ed will come up from Stow to see the house himself and write a detailed estimate that says what each step involves and which products he'll use. Near the highways, power washing comes before exterior house painting, and decks by the ponds need deck staining on a regular cycle. Interior painting and cabinet painting are on the list too. During the job he visits every day, so you always have someone to talk to about the work.

The center along Main Street is on the National Register, with Colonial, Federal and Greek Revival buildings around the common.

Homes near I-495, Route 110 and Route 40 collect road film and winter salt. Washing it off comes before any paint.

Yes. Westford is about ten miles north of Stow, and Ed covers all the villages.
Usually moisture getting behind it, or paint that went on over dirt, chalk or a coating it couldn't bond to. Road film and winter salt near busy roads make it worse. Ed will look at where it's failing and explain what the prep needs to fix.
Westford doesn't have a local historic district that reviews paint color. Its Historical Commission runs a demolition-delay bylaw, which doesn't apply to repainting.
Yes. Houses by Nabnasset or Forge Pond tend to see more moisture, so Ed allows extra drying time after washing.
Inside, yes. Outside work waits until the siding is dry and days stay above about 50°F, usually from mid to late spring.
