Two-acre wooded lots
Lots under tall trees keep siding shaded and slow to dry. North walls collect mildew and moss, so a careful wash comes first.
Carlisle is about ten miles northeast of Stow, and Ed knows what big wooded lots do to paint.
Carlisle adopted two-acre zoning in 1955, and it shows. Houses sit on big, wooded lots, about a quarter of the town is conservation land, and there's no town water or sewer. Most homes are single-family, and many were built from the 1960s through the 1980s. Great Brook Farm State Park, with its working dairy, is in town, and the Concord River runs along the Bedford line.
Ed walks every house himself, which matters on big lots with decks, garages and long runs of trim that are easy to miss from the driveway. Under tall trees, power washing and deck staining come up as often as exterior house painting. Inside, interior painting and cabinet painting make good winter projects. His written estimate lists every step and product, and once the crew starts he visits each day to see the work and answer your questions.

Houses from these decades have been through several paint jobs. The sunny sides and the trim usually wear first.

Every house here is on a private well and septic system. Tell Ed where yours are, so washing and clean-up stay well clear of them.

Yes. The Carlisle Historic District is a local district, and the Historical Commission reviews exterior changes there. Check with them before changing colors.
Washing uses a fair amount of water, so Ed will ask about your well during the walk-through and plan around it.
Yes. Decks under Carlisle's trees stay damp longer, so they get a thorough clean and plenty of drying time before stain.
