Two local historic districts
Wayland Center and Bow Road are local districts. The Historic District Commission reviews exterior changes that can be seen from public ways.
Wayland is about nine miles southeast of Stow, and Ed paints homes from Wayland Center down to Cochituate.
Wayland's population more than doubled during the 1950s, so much of its housing is postwar. Wayland Center, where Routes 20, 27 and 126 meet, keeps Federal and Greek Revival houses from before 1850, and Bow Road is a second local historic district. To the south, Cochituate village sits by Lake Cochituate and Dudley Pond, and the Sudbury River winds through the town's wetlands.
Ed will come out, walk the whole house with you, and look at how the old paint is holding up before he recommends anything. On a 1950s house that's often exterior house painting with fresh caulk and trim work, and near the lake, power washing and deck staining. Interior painting and cabinet painting can be scheduled around it. He then sends a written estimate that covers prep, products and timing, and once the crew starts he's there each day.

Homes from the 1950s boom are well into their repaint years. Worn trim, failing caulk and thick old layers are the usual issues.

Homes around Lake Cochituate, Dudley Pond and the river meadows deal with damp air. Washing off mildew and letting surfaces dry comes first.

Yes. Wayland is about nine miles from Stow, and that includes Cochituate and the area around Wayland Center.
Peeling or cracking paint, bare wood showing at the trim, chalky residue when you rub the siding, and caulk pulling away from seams are the usual signs. Ed can look and tell you whether it's a full repaint or a few worn sides.
Check with the Wayland Historic District Commission before you change anything visible from the street. Ed will paint to whatever they approve.
